Second Harvest Food Bank, a key player in the fight against food insecurity

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is a leading organization in the fight against food insecurity in northwestern Pennsylvania. Each year, it collects, stores, and distributes thousands of tons of food through an extensive network of community partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and specialized community programs. Serving 11 counties across Pennsylvania, Second Harvest leverages the strength of the national Feeding America network to provide more than 10 million meals each year. Beyond food distribution, the organization is deeply committed to raising awareness about hunger, promoting nutrition education, and engaging communities around this critical social issue.  

Reading spaces to strengthen indigenous education and culture

Following a field mission to Brazil at the end of 2024, the John Cockerill Foundation entered into a strategic partnership with the OMUNGA Institute, renowned for its commitment to education and culture. Formalised in April 2025, this collaboration gave rise to the project ‘Creation of indigenous reading spaces in Uiramutã’, located in the Raposa Serra do Sol territory in the state of Roraima, northern Brazil.

An inclusive show for children, Art&Faq promotes diversity and empathy

As part of its collaboration with the non-profit organisation Prométhéa, which aims to bring culture, heritage and the private sector closer together, the John Cockerill Foundation took part in a cultural speed-dating session to support innovative projects. On this occasion, it highlighted the project of the non-profit organisation Art&Faq, which offers an inclusive puppet show focused on diversity and disability in primary schools in Wallonia.

Al Haouz relies on solar energy for drinking water

For several years, the province of Al Haouz in Morocco has been facing severe droughts, leading to a decrease in water resources. This situation was exacerbated by the 2023 earthquake, which caused significant damage to drinking water supply infrastructure. These crises have particularly affected disadvantaged local populations, especially in the most isolated villages.
